After taking the entire year of 2006 off from competing and fitness modeling, Mark has decided to once again to step on stage in 2007. Also, he plans on working with John Mitchell sometime in the spring/summer of 2007 to capture some images at the time of his competition.

Mark began bodybuilding at the age of 13. Working out with a set of plastic weights and using a very basic weight training routine, he was able to transform his physique, adding nearly forty pounds of muscle in his first year of training. Mark became hooked on weight training and has continued training throughout his life.

Mark conducts his weight training at 4am every weekday morning. His routine is broken down in the following manner: Monday – Chest and Calves, Tuesday – Back and Abdominals, Wednesday – Quadriceps and Hamstrings, Thursday – Biceps and Triceps, Friday – Shoulders. He prefers to use compound exercises, such as bench press, squats, barbell curls and military press, however, he is not averse to incorporating isolation exercises from time to time. In addition, Mark performs cardiovascular training three to six times per week for twenty minutes on a treadmill.

Mark’s diet plan for competition has remained fairly consistent over his eleven contests. He is a firm believer in eating every two to three hours and consuming a minimum of one gram of protein per pound of bodyweight, however, he normally takes in approximately 250 grams of complete protein each day. His primary foods include whey protein, chicken, egg whites, fish, vegetables, oatmeal, sweet potatoes, rice and canola oil. He drinks a minimum of one gallon of water per day.

Mark’s bodybuilding contest history includes eleven contests, winning his weight class six times and never placing lower than forth place. He is also an accomplished martial artist, previously competing in kickboxing, judo, tae kwon do and traditional shotokan karate tournaments. Mark was a professional wrestler for a wrestling promotion based out of Massachusetts. Additional interests include reading, watching any New England sports team and Strongman contests and most importantly, spending quality time with his family and friends.

Future goals for Mark include competing in an upcoming MuscleMania contest, having at least two quality photo shoots, and possibly testing his acting skills in a short action film.

I recently had the opportunity to work with photographer John Mitchell for the second time. Once again, John has come through with some amazing photos and provided an atmosphere for an exceptional photo shoot experience. I highly recommend John to any bodybuilder or fitness model interested in capturing outstanding images.
