My name is Juan Perez a.k.a Chino. I recently graduated from The University of Massachusetts in Amherst with a Bachelors degree in Kinesiology (Exercise Science). Before college I attended Haverhill High School in Haverhill, Ma, where I was born and raised. During my high school is when I picked up my love for the sport of bodybuilding. I was never really into playing sports, but once I got my hands on the iron I was hooked. I started working out when I was 13 and freshman in high school. I did not exactly understand the science behind training and nutrition, but I trained 5 days a week. It was my sport and I was my own coach and team. By my senior year I realized that diet was 80% of my results so I began learning about the correct foods and different training styles for different purposes.

This was something I felt I could do for a lifetime and for a living. After my senior year I went off to college as a Sport Management major, after one year I realized this was not exactly what I was looking for, so I decided to turn my efforts towards the Exercise Science major. Here I found the science to explain what was going on within the body when training and how foods are broken down for energy. This helped me develop as an aspiring bodybuilder. I was learning how to apply the science to the gym and in the kitchen.

Once I saw how much I enjoyed doing this I slowly started changing my mind about where I wanted my career to go. I no longer was as interested in Physical Therapy where I would be assisting in injury recovery, but became more interested in changing peopleÕs lives as fitness professional. I love feeling of satisfaction I get from helping someone reach their fitness goals.

I am currently working as a fitness professional/ lifestyle coach for Custom Built Personal Training. I am also currently training for a position in management, where I will be developing personal trainers into fitness professionals and teaching them how to develop result driven programs and working on their ability to build on client relationships. I believe personal training is exactly what it sounds like, personal.

I am also finishing up my certification to become an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). As fitness professional I believe in having a back up plan. I would also like to become a fire fighter. Personal training is something that I can combine with this position and it is something I have always wanted to do. Saving lives and changing them, I could not ask for more. I love to help people in anyway possible, so I use my knowledge and abilities in the best way possible and try to give back to the community in which I grew up.

I recently entered my first bodybuilding show the NPC Northern Cup, where I placed second in the light heavy weight class. I was very pleased and surprised, because I did not intend on placing at my first show. I am still learning and meeting new people to help me learn more about the sport to get me further along in the future. I have no aspiration of becoming a professional bodybuilder, but I am always competing against myself and trying to get myself to the next level of fitness.

John came highly recommended to me from individuals who had worked with him in the past. Working with John was everything I was told to expect. Unbelievably friendly and accommodating. John is full of advice and tips for anyone looking to body build or fitness model, but he also allows you to voice your opinion and actually cares about what you think and have to say. I found working with John to be a great experience and I am looking forward to continue working with him.
