Hi, my name is Andrew Koen and I am currently a sophomore at
Providence College double majoring in management and marketing. I am
from the city of Peabody just north of Boston, Massachusetts. I
attended St. John's Preparatory High School in Danvers,
Massachusetts and was a multi-sport athlete. While in high School I
was the class president and also the president of the investment
club. I also played football, basketball and, ran track during my
four years at the school. During that time I had always trained for
use in the particular sport that I was participating in during the
year. I had always liked the competitive nature of different sports
but enjoyed the weight room training more than the actual sport and
was not sure what to do. After my senior year of football I decided
to learn how to train for competitive bodybuilding and immediately
became obsessed and have ever since. The dedication to bodybuilding
has lead me to have better dedication with my school work and grader
have been high even with the challenging curriculum.
At school you can usually find me either in class working or
working out. My daily routine does not change much and my diet is
pretty basic, do well and school and graduate and also pursue
bodybuilding. At the stage in my life now I am trying to get as big
as I can get. I know John preaches "better not bigger" but
I believe that I can be "bigger and better". I train at
the gym on campus six days a week with either one of my good friends
or my girlfriend and try to eat some what healthy at the cafeteria
on campus. It can be a challenge at school to live a bodybuilder's
life style in college with the opportunity for a party almost every
night but when you have goals and a deep drive for success it is
pretty simple. Staying lean has never been a problem for me and I
can eat just about anything and not affect my physique and I usually
don't like to gain "bad" weight and stay some what lean
year round but again I find it fairly easy to do. This has allowed
me to stay healthy and also lead to opportunities to test products
for Fizogen. Though my training was intense I never thought I was
ready for a competition but hat was changing quickly.
Just a few short months ago a heard about a gym just a few
minutes from my house named Gym Warriors, upon arrival it was
everything I could have every asked for in a gym atmosphere and my
training has skyrocketed thanks to help from my friend and trainer
Paul DeSimone. I have always thought I knew enough to work on my own
with just proper training and diet but Paul has helped taught me
more than I could have ever imagined. I am a member of team Gym
Warriors and Paul acts as the captain. I am grateful for the
opportunity and the challenge of preparing for the contests.
Working with John was an excellent opportunity. John is a very
professional man and an exceptional photographer who takes deep
pride in the profession of photography and I appreciated his
professionalism. He take many outstanding ideas for different shots
and even though I felt nervous due to it being my first shoot he
gave inspirational words of advice and was very personable to talk
to during and after the shoot. I would recommend him and his work to
anyone that is interested in doing a photo shoot for the first time
or a veteran in fitness modeling.
Finally, I'd like to thank my family and friends for their
support, especially my mother who is always there for me to make
your I always do the right thing.
